Hornsea Town Reserves

Back Row L-R - Gillett, Fraser, Horth, Frankton, Palmer, Holt, Hackney
Front Row L-R - Stephenson, Dearing, Peasgood (Capt), Billam, Simpkins, Kirk
Hornsea Town Reserves are made up largely of last season’s 3rd team with some welcome additions such as Ben Stephenson, Eddie Billam, Joe Fraser, Al Kirk and Eddy Simpkins (the only survivor of last season’s 2nd team). Despite most players moving up two divisions in standard, the side have gelled well together and don’t look out of place in County League Division 3.
Managed this year by Carl Horth and Joe Palmer, the Reserves are still looking to find their best formation after much experimenting. The new management team put together an extensive pre-season programme of 4 friendlies and weekly training sessions which has paid dividends with great fitness levels, understanding and togetherness shown in the early games.
This year the 3rd team will provide as a feeder club - something which hasn’t really happened in recent seasons. Players playing well for the 3rds will be asked to move up whilst players struggling for starts in the Reserves will always have the option of dropping down to gain match fitness. This has been seen already with the like of James Ward moving up a level. The Reserves and 3rd team continue to train together which keeps everyone close to what is happening.
After seeing half the teams in the league so far and looking at other results there is no reason for the Reserves to finish outside the Top 6 this season - something that would please Secretary John Bickenson who has seen the team relegated 3 years in a row!
